New boiler installation services usually take between 1-3 days depending on the complexity of the job.
You should also keep a few more extra hours spare for your survey appointment, which will take place prior to your installation.
In the survey appointment, a surveyor will discuss your property and heating needs. This is done in order to ensure that a suitable boiler is selected and installed.
You can also go through this prices via our online quote service.
Let’s Heat offer two types of surveys to assess your requirements:
Online Survey
This is a quick and easy option for homeowners who prefer to have their survey conducted digitally online.
All you have to do is complete the online survey and we will guide you through the survey process, assessing your current system and your heating and hot water requirements.
In-Home Survey
During the survey appointment, a surveyor will visit your home and examine your current heating system. This will include the existing boiler, gas meter and bathrooms etc.
They’ll also ask you about your requirements for heating and hot water.
Each Survey will produce a quote:
At the end of each survey you will be given a quote for your new boiler installation.
What can affect your boiler installation time?
The complexity of the installation
The complexity of your boiler installation can affect the time it takes to install your new boiler. This also affects the amount of labour required, which has an additional impact on the cost.
There are three main ways of installing your new boiler and each has a different level of complexity:
- Straight Swap
- Boiler Relocation
- System Upgrade
Please find more details about each type of installation as well as an estimate of the time each type of installation will take:
Type of installation: Straight swap (same location)!
Installation Details:
A straight swap installation is also known as a like-for-like swap. This is a type of boiler installation that involves replacing your current system with a boiler of the same type, in the same place.
Install Time:
This is generally the quickest type of boiler installation as it requires very little change. It can often be completed in just one day.
See boiler prices for the costs of your new boiler and boiler installation.
Type of installation: Boiler relocation , boiler how long does
Details: A boiler relocation installation requires moving your new boiler to a different location within your property.
This could slightly prolong the installation process. Your boiler engineer may have to make changes to the existing pipework or they may have to cap the current pipework. This is in addition to installing any new elements to the new location.
Install Time:
This adjustment could add another day on to the standard one day installation making it up to 2 days of installation*.
*It’s worth noting that the further away you choose to install your new boiler, the longer the installation is likely to take which will also have an impact on your price.

Type of installation: System upgrade
Installation Details:
System upgrade installations are where homeowners choose to change the type of boiler they have installed in the property.
For example, switching from a heat only boiler to a combi boiler would be considered a system upgrade. Combi boilers have become the most popular boiler type in the UK, so many people choose to upgrade to this type of system from the older heat only boiler variety.
Install Time:
An upgrade could make your installation take up to 3 days* or more depending on the complexity of the job.
*This may seem like a long process, but the benefits of upgrading to a more efficient system can often make it worthwhile.

Why choosing the right boiler is important?
Choosing a suitable boiler for your home can provide you with all the heating and hot water that your property requires.
You could also save money on your annual energy bills and reduce your carbon footprint. Using a more efficient system for your requirements can help you achieve this.
Other factors to consider that can impact installation times…
Installing smart thermostats:
Smart Thermostats are becoming increasingly popular due to their innovative functions and ease of use.
These tech gadgets and thermostats allow you to have greater control of your heating.
They also allow you to have that control from anywhere, using your smartphone, tablet or other device to put you in control.
Some smart thermostats also have the ability to learn your central heating habits and programme themselves to follow your usual routine.
As these tech gadget become more complex with ever increasing features then demonstrating this can add time to your installation.
Having a system Powerflush:
A system powerflush is a deep clean that is designed to get rid of any sludge, debris or rust out of your central heating system.
A powerflush helps to ensure that your new system functions as efficiently as possible.
This involves sending a chemically infused liquid at a high velocity through your radiators and pipes.
This highly-effective process can take up to 5 hours to complete, which can obviously add time to your installation.
Upgrading your gas mains:
Upgrading your gas mains can sometimes be required if you have an older system. Often the pipework may not be suitable for the new boiler you want installed so it will need to be replaced*.
*If the size of your gas installation pipework doesn’t meet the requirements for your new boiler, it has to be changed.
Completing this could take your engineer a few extra hours depending on the complexity of the job, thus adding time to your installation.
